The Probationary Path – Hidden in Plain Sight
Part II: by Kathi Sundeen
The Daniel Plan
Crème says, “[E]mphasis has been laid, in all teachings, on purity -- of physical body, of feelings, of mind and of motive. The process of purification rightly starts on the Probationary Path; by the time the Initiatory Path is being trodden, the habits of purity are expected to be already established and automatic. The physical body is the first to undergo purification and, for those in preparation for the first initiation, a vegetarian diet becomes essential. Meat eating ... must be eliminated from the diet.”(Bold added)1
The first initiation is the Birth Initiation (birth of Christ Consciousness in the cave of the heart), and is one of only two Initiations where Maitreya is the Hierophant.
“Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” (I Tim. 4:3)
In Rick Warren’s sermon on Nov. 7, 2010, “God’s Prescription for Health,” he announced The Daniel Plan, utilizing three doctors who have New Age worldviews. He quotes Daniel, “let us eat a healthy diet of vegetables and healthy food,” in comparison to those eating “the King’s rich food.” He said they are starting an organic farm to grow “healthy vegetables” for a new restaurant on campus that he is thinking about calling the “Garden of Eden,” as well as adding “fresh vegetables” to their food pantry. 2
Lending further Biblical authority, he said, “Nebuchadnezzar said, find the finest young men and put them through a three year intern program, and they will serve in my court as royal advisers. One of the perks they get, kind of like we’re doing in the Decade of Destiny (DOD), is the privilege of eating at the King’s table.” We are in Phase One of the DOD, a period of three years, Jan. 2011 through Dec. 2013. 3
We see the consequence for non-participation in the DOD. “...[Y]ou will regret it the rest of eternity... To not be involved in the DOD is a fatal mistake.” 4
In the Health and Fitness Seminar, Dr. Hyman said, “We need to downsize on meat, upsize veggies. Eat a predominantly plant based diet.” And just as a vegetarian diet is an essential part of the first Initiation, so too is meditation in order for the Christ Consciousness to be “birthed.” As we saw, Rick Warren has repeatedly taught being silent. Controlling your mind and breathing are a part of meditation. In this seminar, Dr. Hyman taught deep breathing exercises to relieve stress, saying take a deep breath, hold it, take five seconds to blow it out, which he said to do ten times in a row twice a day. Also in the Seminar, Dr. Oz appeared in a video from his TV show, saying we need to do “deep belly breathing” to relieve stress. 5
In Warren’s sermon on Nov. 7, 2010, he showed a clip of an interview with Dr. Amen. However, the clip does not include Dr. Amen teaching “the relaxation response” that he teaches in the full interview, where Dr. Amen said stress management includes meditation. He said, “Take a big breath. Every time you blow out, say the word “One.” Do it for 10 minutes. You have all these thoughts coming in, imagine a big broom, sweep them away.” This is Mantra Meditation, repeating a word or phrase that contains “real” power for a specific effect, that also quiets the mind. “One” is a key New Age word, and The Mantram of the New Group of World Servers affirms “one Life ... one Soul ... one Work.” According to Share Intl., by using a mantra, “our nature becomes purified” by preventing other thoughts into our mind. And while Crème said purification of the body was first, he said it also includes the mind (see first paragraph). 6
Next, it was Rick Warren’s turn to demonstrate deep breathing on Jan. 16, 2011. He said “sit up straight, roll your shoulders, take a deep breath and hold it for a minute, then let it out slowly,” signaling your brain to “sit up and listen.” He said this is “the first principle for permanent change,” to “commit our bodies to God.” So Crème’s statement that purifying the “physical body” is first before Initiation, matches Warren’s first principle to commit the body, which certainly will result in a “permanent change.” 7
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. (1Tim 4:8)
In Warren’s sermon Feb. 13, 2010, he said Dr. Oz is sending their crew to Saddleback to interview people who are on the Daniel Plan. He said he is actually going to go on the Dr. Oz show during that program. In addition, there will be another Daniel Plan webcast with Dr. Oz on Feb. 28, 2011.8
Self-Realization
Crème says, “Among Maitreya’s priorities is the removal of guilt and fear,” which includes fear of death. “Guilt is the result of fear. The fear is that you have sinned.” This is done by practicing “honesty of mind, sincerity of spirit, and detachment. If you are attached to your beliefs – Christian, Muslim or Buddhist - and you do things that are against your beliefs, you live in guilt and fear....” You then fear retribution, but Crème says there is no such thing.(Bold added) 9
“Practise these three, Maitreya says, and come to Self-Realization.” Detachment brings Self-Awareness that gradually leads to Self-Realization. This means believing we are Consciousness only, thereby detaching from our body, feelings, and mind. 10
In Warren’s sermon on Aug. 29, 2010, he said, “God did not design your body to handle guilt. He designed it for you to live guilt free. Guilt creates all kinds of fears. ...God never punishes you.... Punishment is getting even. God does not get even.”11
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. (Luke 12:5)
On July 4, 2010, Warren said Jesus gives five freedoms, including “no fear of death.” He said, “I have zero fear of dying, except fear of pain, like getting my head cut off and somebody trying to sew it back on.”12
On Sept. 15, 2010, he wrote “Real freedom is freedom from fear ... from guilt ... and from death. You’re free to quit pretending because you’re free to be yourself.” On Oct. 27, 2010, he tweeted, “The most exhausting activity is pretending to be what you know u arent.” No doubt. 13
Crème says sincerity of spirit is “being who we are ... not trying to be like somebody else, not imitating other people....” It’s not providing a “false idea of ourselves, manipulating them so that they admire or like us.”(Bold added)14
On Sept. 10, 2010, Warren tweeted, “Authenticity is being what you seem and saying what you mean.”(Bold added)15
On Warren’s website for pastors, he wrote, “God blesses ... integrity ... that we are exactly what we appear to be. [I]t’s being honest about your weaknesses. ...I am honest, I am authentic with the people.”(Bold added)16
Crème says honesty of mind is “a mind which is not conditioned by ideology and 'isms'.” Also, “All of us think one thing, say something else, and do something else again. For honesty of mind, what we think, what we say, and what we do must be in a straight line.” This gives freedom, meaning “freedom from indoctrination and conditioning.” Then, you will “no longer be dependent on the approval of others.”(Bold added)17
At the 2010 Desiring God Conference, “The Battle for Your Mind,” Warren said, “Your life and life of your members depends on hearing this message.” In the battle for our minds, they need to teach how to “demolish strongholds, a mental block. It can be a worldview ... all the different isms are mental strongholds that people will set up against the knowledge of God.” He said that in 2011, he will be teaching an entire series on managing your mind.18
In his sermon on Sept. 19, 2010, Warren said, “Our greatest fear is loss of approval of others. You will have resistance when you choose the approval of God. You will also have to ignore the negative voices in your mind.”19
Bailey tells us these are the two things that the disciple will suffer. “a. The disciple’s lower self, which rebels at being transmuted (transformed). b. A man’s immediate group, friends, or family, who rebel at his growing impersonality.”(Bold added)20
Another Gospel, Another Jesus, Another Spirit
Crème says the “Gospel Story ... is the story of Initiation.... Jesus is the symbolic presentation ... of the Initiate’s journey to Perfection.” The five initiations are Birth, Baptism, Transfiguration, Crucifixion, and Resurrection.(Bold added)21
In The PDL, Warren says, “Since God intends to make you like Jesus, he will take you through the same experiences Jesus went through. ...The Bible says Jesus ... was made perfect through suffering.” Crème tells us suffering is part of our “perfecting process” because we “identify with everything and anything other than that Self.”(Bold added, italics in orig.)22
The other Jesus is the Master Jesus. Crème says Maitreya overshadowed Jesus, taking credit for the work Jesus did in Palestine. “Master” refers to those who have mastered their divinity and the forces of nature.
Newer Bible translations assist in these teachings, especially The Message, which uses the term “master” and calls Jesus the Master Jesus. “Master” is used in The PDL twenty two times, including “Your lives are echoing the Master’s Word ...you’re the message.”(Bold added, italics in orig.)23
In the last paragraph of The PDL, it says, “Worthy, Oh Master! Yes, our God! ... We will praise him for his plan and live for his purposes forever!”(Bold added)24
In “Daily Hope,” Warren quotes from The Message, “[W]e have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus.”(Bold added, italics in orig.)25
Share Intl. explains the other spirit. “...[T]he self is one and indivisible, yet it can be pointed to via the personal pronoun 'I'. This suggests that man comes to know the self as 'I'; in other words, this identity with the self is experienced in consciousness. ...The Self, which is in fact the Lord and which is called I (Spirit) because it abides in the body, is different from the physical and subtle bodies. I am that Spirit.”(Bold added)26
On Sept. 5, 2009, Dr. J.P. Moreland spoke at Saddleback and said science proves the existence of consciousness. “Consciousness and mind exists ... is real ... and is mental. Consciousness is disgustingly invisible.” If he could take his wife apart cell by cell, he would never find any cell that was her “I” or her “Self,” because “Her consciousness and her “I” or Self are spirit ...because consciousness exists in us, the most reasonable explanation ... is that the universe begins with a consciousness being.”27
In an article at Lighthouse Trails, we see Warren’s enlistment of Leonard Sweet to help train church leaders and pastors in his 2008 Saddleback Small Groups Conference. In Sweet’s book, Quantum Spirituality, Sweet says, “The power of small groups is in their ability to develop the discipline to get people "in-phase" with the Christ consciousness and connected with one another.” Also from the book, Sweet said, “The church is fundamentally one being, one person, a comm-union whose cells are connected to one another within the information network called the Christ consciousness.”(Bold added)28
Crème says God is all of the energies or forces in the universe, as well as the laws that govern these energies. We are part of that electrical energy, called Christ Consciousness. This is why Maitreya used semantics to say we are not God. Crème predicted Maitreya would say this, as there is no one who is the “one and only God.”
The PDL quotes George Bernard Shaw as saying true joy is “being used up for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; being a force of nature....”(Bold added)29
“For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.”(2 Cor. 11:4)
On Jan. 1, 2011, Warren began the series, “A New You for a New Decade,” using the following symbol. Not only does the background look like electricity, but most of the letters look like two and three prong electrical plugs. The background is indigo blue - the color of the cosmic ray of love-wisdom, Maitreya’s ray. It is the color of the Kalki Avatar, who Hindus believe is the Avatar for this coming age, who Crème says is Maitreya. In fact, the movie “Avatar,” was released shortly before the Invocation. Or maybe it’s just a symbol.30
