The Spirit of Jezebel and her Effects Among the Body of Christ Today

Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.

We all know our favorite cult leader has been battling “the jezebel” for many years. He has convinced his followers that all evil flows from the jezebel. Many times he has claimed to have “overcome” the jezebel but soon he is once again battling against this ever present enemy.

I spoke about this passage of scripture at a recent fellowship. One of the participants correctly pointed out that “the jezebel” is really the spirit of whoredom. Davidson likes to confine the jezebel sprit to woman only but the sprit of whoredom can operate through anyone, man or woman.

In Revelation 2:20 we have a woman who claims to be a prophetess but the context of the passage makes it clear that she is not. Her teaching seduces Gods people to commit sexual immorality. If you are beginning to see a parallel to our favorite cult leader you are not alone. Doyle Davidson claims to be a prophet even though his prophecies are frequently wrong, sometimes disastrously so. On January 25th this year Davidson told his followers that God had assured him Terry Mai would return to Water of Life to lead worship and preach the gospel – less than 24 hours later Mai was dead.

Davidson's teaching has convinced his followers that sexual immorality, adultery, and fornication is fine and dandy as long as it is done by a righteous man like him. This is of course false since 1John 3:7 clearly states only those who practice righteousness are righteous. Adultery does not cease to be adultery merely because Davidson wishes to redefine the term.

Finally he feeds Gods people things sacrificed to idols. It is important that we understand what it means to eat things sacrificed to idols today.

In biblical times, adherents of pagan religions would sacrifice literal meat to idols and then sell that meat in the market place. To the Jews, this was a great abomination to be avoided. Early gentile Christians were also advised to avoid eating meat sacrificed to idols (Acts 15:29). Today we no longer practice this in a literal sense but all false teachers still do it in the spiritual sense.

God’s word is often referred to as meat or solid food (1Cor 3:2, Heb 5:12). Today, many false teachers take the meat of God’s word and sacrifice it to their own idol. Then they turn around and feed it to you. For example the prosperity preachers take many scriptures out of context and turn them into something about money. That is their idol. They are sacrificing the meat of God's word to their idol of covetousness. Then they feed that word to you to convince you they are right.

Davidson does the same thing. He has sacrificed the meat of God’s word to his own idol (or idol’s in his case). His primary idol is himself. By twisting scripture he has made himself mediator between God and man. He has replaced Christ in the lives of his followers. They look to him first rather than Christ. They are convinced that God sent Davidson to speak to them. He tells them that they can do nothing without him. This is an anti-christ (in place of christ) spirit (1John 2:18-19). In the lives of his followers, Davidson sits in the temple of God (1Cor 3:16), claiming that he is God (2Thess 2:4). I am not saying he is THE anti-christ but he certainly operates by an anti-christ spirit.

In addition to that, he sacrifices the meat of the word to his idol of sexual lust by falsely using scripture to claim that God has allowed him to take another mans wife as his own (at least twice now that we know of).

It is obvious that Doyle is actually operating by the very spirit which he claims to be fighting, the spirit of jezebel, the spirit of whoredoms. He claims to be a prophet but isn't. His teaching seduces people to commit sexual immorality and he feeds people the meat of God's word only after having sacrificed it to his idols.

Now let's look at the result God promises to those who sit under this spirit.

Rev 2:21-23
And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds. I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

All of these results have played out in the lives of Doyle and his followers.

I will cast her into a sickbed……..

It is obvious to anybody with eyes that despite his denials, Doyle Davidson is a very sick man. Physically and mentally he is in rapidly declining health.

and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation………

Everyone who has come out of Water of Life can look back and see the tribulation they went through while there. Problem after problem, physical sickness, depression, marriage problems, money problems, it was always something wasn’t it. Doyle convinced you these problems were because you weren’t believing the gospel but in reality it was because you were committing adultery with the spirit of whoredom.

I will kill her children with death……..

Terry Mai is dead but he is only the most recent. Terry was a child of that spirit. He sat under it all his adult life. He rationalized Davidson’s sins. He lied to others to protect Doyle. He willingly partook of the spirit of whoredom and ate meat sacrificed to idols. He refused medical treatment even after it was painfully obvious that he was very ill. He believed Doyle's lies about medicine being witchcraft.

And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

There was no need for Terry Mai to die from a treatable form of cancer. There is nothing in God’s word that prohibits medicine or condemns medical treatment as witchcraft. That false teaching is a direct result of Davidson’s sacrificing meat to idols. God’s word is true and in the case of Terry Mai, it surely has not returned void. As God promised, he gave unto Terry according to his works.

How many funerals did you attend at WOL. How many children and grandchildren of members died while you were there? How many marriages were destroyed? How many tragedies and near tragedies did you experience while you sat under Davidson? How many more must physically die before you come to your senses?

Wake up people. Stop eating meat sacrificed to idols. Stop committing adultery with the spirit of whoredom operating through Doyle Davidson. The next funeral you attend may be your own.
