The Hidden Truth About William Branham and His Message
by Chad Creamer
INTRODUCTION
My name is Chad Creamer. I have been a part of the Branham movement for a few years and I recently broke away. I was raised in a Pentecostal church, my grandparents were missionaries in Swaziland, and I came across the message of William Branham, through a man I met at one of the mission schools. I was a very diligent message believer aka Branhamite, I done some evangelical work for the movement, I visited hospitals and even did some work for the Voice of God Recordings branch in Nelspruit, South Africa. While I was busy with all of this, my pastor and the rest of the congregation did very little to spread this gospel which they believed EVERYONE needed to hear and accept, in order to be saved in this last generation.
It was a few years later that I met my wife on one of the social networks. Brahmanism teaches against inter racial marriage, so I had to search for a wife who was of my race/ethnic group and she also had to be a Branhamite. By the Grace of God I am still with my wife, whom I love dearly to this day. I moved to from Swaziland to South Africa, where I got married and settled down here permanently.
It was upon my arrival to South Africa that I saw how much confusion there was within the so-called PERFECT message of William Branham. The various churches which all claimed to believe the message of William Branham, but never agreed with one another on a number of things. Even that which I heard preached from my family in-laws’ church worried me tremendously. I could not handle the fact that I had to pick and choose what I agreed with. That is what set me on a path to find out what the truth was.
OFFSPRING OF BRANHAMISM
I began to look into the various Branham churches and their views of the message. I discovered that there were many that preached a version of the message which was backed by quotes from William Branham himself! They seemed to be vastly different in doctrine, yet they were all derived from the same source, William Branham. I had to admit to myself that this was complete and utter confusion.
Here are some of the most radical groups:
- The Christ Branham group that believes that there is a NEW NAME by which we will be saved and they believe that name is William Branham. They pray in his name, baptise in his name and refer to him as Lord or Christ.
- The Donald Parnell group believes that the rapture took place in 1963, they believe that PERFECTION is happening as we speak and Christ rules in us through the VITAMIN IRON. Hence the phrase, “Rule with an Iron Rod”.
- The Kacou Phillipe group are mostly African people who believe that Phillipe is the NEW PROPHET who will usher the Bride into the millennium. They claim to be against Branhamism and yet they teach Branham’s doctrines. They say Branham’s message was the EVENING MESSAGE and Phillipe’s message is the MIDNIGHT CRY.
I could not believe what I had discovered and this prompted me to dig even deeper.
DOCTRINES OF BRANHAMISM
Over a course of almost six months I visited numerous websites, I wanted to learn more about the man William Branham, and I discovered many websites which are not affiliated with Branhamism but revere him as a great man of God. Wikipedia described him as an enigma and the man who is largely responsible for the 20th century revivals. During my search, I stumbled across a website that was pro Branhamism, and they wrote an article titled “Humble Pie”. In this article, they apologised for spreading a false gospel and they recanted their belief in William Branham’s message. I was shocked! Over the course of a few weeks, they began to load videos concerning the various claims Branham made, which blatantly contradicted the Bible and history itself. I will provide a link to their website later in my letter.
Branham claimed to have an angel present with him throughout his life. I have always asked people what the name of this entity was, and to this day, nobody can give an answer. The reason for this is because Branham never disclosed the name of this angel. The angel apparently tutored him on numerous things, explained his visions to him, and on some occasions, told him certain things were THUS SAITH THE LORD. He even received THREE HIGH WORDS from this entity. Branham claimed these words were unknown to any living man but himself. He would use these words to cast out evil spirits and cure diseases.
That alone should make any Christian run for the hills!!
Branham preached the serpents seed doctrine, in which he says that Eve was impregnated by the Serpent (who was an upright being at the time), and there is a seed line of the serpent in existence today. This group will never be saved, they will never believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and they will never believe William Branham’s message.
He taught that God DWELT IN Jesus only from His baptism at the river Jordan, and left him in the garden of Gethsemane. He did not believe that Jesus was the fullness of the Godhead bodily, before His baptism. He quotes the scripture where the voice from Heaven said, “This is my Son in whom I am pleased”, he added the words “to dwell in” to drive his point home.
Branham was adamant that he never claimed to be a prophet, but many times in prayer lines he would say, “Do you BELIEVE ME to be God’s prophet?” and if the person would agree, he would proclaim them healed. Other times he would speak and say it was not him speaking, but the Lord speaking through him. The problem with that is the very bad grammar he used while God spoke through him, the question here is if God has such a poor command of a language He created?
In 1963 William Branham delivered his revelation of the Seven Seals, he claimed that he received it from seven angels who visited him over a period of consecutive days and each angel bringing with him a revelation of one seal. Initially, the first time he preached on the seals, Branham claimed that there were 5 angels and no CLOUD. You may be wondering what the cloud is about. Let me explain.
After Branham saw the article in a February 1963 copy of Life Magazine, which depicted a mysterious cloud over Arizona, USA. Branham claimed that he was under the cloud when it appeared and it was formed by 7 angels who had floated into the air after giving him the revelation. This apparently happened at Rattlesnake Mesa, Arizona, USA, where Branham said he was hunting. It was later discovered that the Vandenburg Military Base had detonated a THOR rocket/missile which had malfunctioned. This detonation produced the mysterious cloud.
The Mystery Cloud - Life Magazine May 1963

Keep in mind that the first time he preached on the seals, there was no mention of a cloud, and the number of angels was 5 and not 7. He added the cloud story and increased the number of angels to 7 AFTER the publication in Life Magazine.
Branham then took the picture of the cloud, and said it was the face of Jesus Christ inside the cloud, looking down on the earth, which was formed by these angels. In order to achieve this, he had the Hoffman depiction of the rich young ruler and “Jesus” altered. The face of “Jesus” was neatly cut out and the cloud photo was inverted and placed perfectly around "Jesus". Very deceptive, and like most of the other things I would like to mention, utterly anti Christ. To this day, you see this abominable image hanging in Branhamite churches and their homes.
Jesus in the Cloud

If we examine the seals as preached by William Branham, it is clear to see that it is a virtual carbon copy of Clarence Larkin’s work. Many phrases used by Larkin are used by Branham, such as “SATANS SUPERMAN”. Branham added a messenger to each church age; the dates of these ages are copied directly from Larkin. Branham altered some of the dates and unknowingly added Columbo in an age he did not even exist. He pompously added himself as the last church age messenger, and used the fraudulent birth date he acquired from an astrologer to it (the birth date he wrote on his first marriage certificate is 1908, the 1909 birth date he got from a woman who said he was born under a particular star). I will discuss the birth date issue in the next subtopic.
PERSONAL LIFE OF BRANHAM
Branham made some outrageous claims about being vindicated by God at a challenge issued to him by a group of ministers. He claims that they took many pictures that day and only one was developed. The others did not come through. He claims to have had the negative examined by a man named George Lacy. According to Branham, Mr. Lacy was an examiner of fraudulent documents, who worked for the FBI, and was head of one of their departments. He claimed that Mr. Lacy said it was the ONLY SUPERNATURAL thing to ever be photographed in history. Branham said that the photograph now hangs in the RELIGIOUS HALL OF ART in the USA. This is the picture of the so called “pillar of fire’ above his head, or a halo.

All of these claims are bogus. Firstly, Mr. George Lacy was never employed by the FBI at any point in his career; he was a private investigator of fraudulent documents who worked with the various sheriff departments. There is absolutely no record of him being employed by the FBI or heading any of their departments. Secondly, Mr. Lacy NEVER said the light was supernatural, all he said was that the light struck the lens and that the film was not retouched or double exposed. Thirdly, there has never been a Religious Hall of Art in the entire history of the USA. It does not exist, and it never has.

I have attached another picture of a basketball match being played in the same auditorium where this “halo” picture of Branham was taken, you can clearly see the floodlight in the background and it is the same light that was present the day this infamous debate took place. The pitiful thing is that Branham has fooled people to believe this floodlight was God! Tragically, we have over 3 million people all over that world who believe that was God vindicating a true prophet! They hang this picture, along with the one of the cloud in their churches and their homes. This is idolatry! Floodlights and rocket fuel clouds are being worshipped. God have Mercy.

Branham claimed that his father died when he was a little boy, he said that he had to fend for his family and earn a living for them. Contrary to this story, it has been proven by government census records and death records that William Branham’s father died when he already had a family of his own. He was far from being a little boy. He claimed to be poor, and yet he owned a brand new 1926 Model T Ford in his early 20’s while hauling groceries for Mr. Chris Meisner, or Misner.

When he married his first wife, Hope Brumbach, he wrote the date, April 08, 1908 on his marriage certificate and it only changed after he was told by a modern day astrologer or witch that he was born on April 06, 1909.

FAILED PROPHECIES
There are many failed prophecies by William Branham, there are also many that were mentioned AFTER THE FACT. Branham said that when he was a boy, he saw a bridge come up and during its construction, 16 men fell to their deaths. That bridge was the Municipal Bridge, Louisville, Kentucky. State libraries, government records and newspaper publications of the time do not document 16 deaths during its construction. There is only mention of 2 deaths and neither of those men fell to their deaths. This was all just a fabrication by a man that had a problem with telling lies.
He claimed to have prayed for, and healed, the granddaughter of Florence Nightingale from a stomach condition; there are pictures of this woman in some of the books which promote William Branham. The problem with this story is that the real Florence Nightingale had no children, and therefore, could not have had any grandchildren.
There are other stories he told about curing King George from cancer, yet we all know that King Goerge succumbed to a cancer related death in 1952. While praying for a boy named Donny Morton, to whom he claimed “Thus saith the Lord” the child, is healed, only for the boy to die a few months later. Readers Digest even wrote an article about Donny Morton and his untimely death.
The vision he had about being in India, having a great meeting there with hundreds of thousands being saved also failed. He did get to India after 1951, but he was attacked by a mob and was hauled out by the police and military. He returned to the USA with some excuse. The same applied with the South Africa prophecy, he said he would minister to 300,000 people in a single meeting and it did not happen. Instead, the South African government issued him a restricted visa which did not permit him to preach, he went hunting instead and returned to the USA, only to die 5 months later.
There are many more failed prophecies documented on these websites, www.believethesign.com, www.searchingforvindication.com, www.seekthetruth.com and for the a complete book about Branham visit, www.wmbranham.net.
CONCLUSION
Branhamism has flown under the radar for decades; many perceive Branham as a great man of God who spearheaded the revivals of the 20th century. Many don’t know the true story behind Branham and his message, the lies, the deception and the blatant similarities it has with the occult. The similarities between the Jehovah’s Witness, Mormon movement, and Branhamism are apparent and can’t be objectively refuted. Branham preached “pyramidology” in his doctrine of the stature of a perfect man, much of it taken for Charles T. Russell’s fascination with the pyramid and he was founder of the Jehovah’s Witness movement. Ironically, Russell also had a long line of false prophecies.
Branham said that God has THREE BIBLES, the first one was written in the heavens and it is known as the Zodiac, the second was the pyramids and the third is the one we have today. Similar to Russell, Branham also has a pyramid shaped tombstone which has the Laodicean messenger inscribed on it.
Joseph Smith was given his doctrine by a being/angel named Moroni; there is also a Mormon prophecy of sorts that has the name William Branham written in it. Branham claimed to be against these beliefs although he preached very similar doctrines and utilised similar demonic entities. He was somewhat of a medium used by this entity. I believe the term is called CHANNELLING and we can affirm this by the vibrations he said he felt in his hand when he performed his healings and discernments.
Branham often told a story of how the Freemasons paid his hospital bill when he was a boy. It is not an unknown fact that he had ties to the Klan, and his first pastor - who ordained him - was a Klansman. His first pastor was Rev. Roy E. Davis. Because of the mentorship he received from Rev. Davis, Branham was against interracial marriage and I suppose this is where he got his “flowers in the garden of God don’t mix” doctrine from. There are many instances where Branham held meetings in Masonic buildings; he also said it was alright for a Christian to belong to a Masonic Lodge, and still be a genuine Holy Ghost filled Christian. This is exactly what Masonic sects teach, they believe you can be a Christian and belong to one of their lodges.
Another little known fact is that Branham was revered by Jim Jones, the cult leader who engineered the suicide deaths of 909 followers in Jonestown Guyana in 1978. Jones attended a number of Branham’s meetings, he called him a great man of God and they were obviously good friends.
I have to say that I am grateful to God for pulling me out of Branhamism. I am happy to say that my wife has also left the cult and we have never been happier. I can honestly confirm that Branhamism is much more than just a cult; it is one of the most well planned plots for deception, in our modern history. Once you believe it, it is impossible to see anything beyond what Branham said. Branhamite churches are known to sing an all time favourite song of William Branham’s, it is titled, “Only Believe”. I say, ONLY BELIEVE KEEPS YOU DECEIVED.
The key to this bondage is fear. The fear of being rejected by God, the fear of losing family, the fear of death, the fear of not knowing where to go after Branhamism.
These days I spend my time enlightening people about Branhamism, I mainly accomplish this on my Facebook group and I have seen it grow to about 2500 members in a few months. Most of the members are Branhamites; it isn’t easy to get someone away from something they believe God vindicated and most of the time we are met with hostility, curses etc. Thankfully, there are many that are leaving the cult from all over the world. The awareness about Branhamism has grown over the past two years, all the websites I have provided are founded by former Branhamites and their work has taken a lot of time and dedication. Not to mention the ridicule from family members, friends, church folk and in some cases, their spouses. Some of us former believers were in the message for more than 40 years; some preached it in churches all over the world, others just believed and followed it religiously.
Breaking away was very difficult, to the point where some even contemplated suicide. It is only through the Grace of God that we have come out of the great deception and looked to Jesus Christ as our only means of Salvation. There are still many scars, the pain of having family members still trapped in the cult and the loss of childhood friends.
I hope I have helped shed some light on this movement that has bound millions of people in its grip. I trust that God will raise more valiant soldiers who will enter the battle and shine the Light of Truth to all people. Deception has many forms; Branhamism is just one of them.
God Bless You All,
